Other conspiracy theories
K.G.B (Russian Government Agency) Kennedy was president during the middle of the Cold War. Assassinating him would've weakened America and the Western world. Lee Harvey Oswald was married to the K.G.B's colonel's niece so it is possible that he got involved with the K.G.B in his time in Russia, resulting in him being sent to assassinate Kennedy. However, the K.G.B could have got one of their own people that they trust more. In a book written by Robert Holmes, he says "Yes, he had spent a couple of years in the Soviet Union but he wasn't anybody special" (The Telegraph). Cubans Besides the fact that Fidel Castro could have wanted revenge for the C.I.A wanting to kill him, this conspiracy lacks a significant motive. Additionally, eye witnesses don't recall many Cubans in Dealey Plaza at the time of the assassination. According to www.nbcnews.com, Oswald "was a strong believer in Castro's vision for Cuba", explaining his possible involvement. It also states that "Oswald was arrested for handing out pro-Castro leaflets". Additionally, Oswald's captain in the Marines said upon random searches of the Marines' rooms, he found Communist magazines in Oswald's cabinet. James Files James Files claimed he assassinated Kennedy over 30 years afterwards whilst in prison and that he was the second shooter on the grassy knoll. According to the Daily Mail, Files "claims that Lee Harvey Oswald never fired a single shot, and that his boss Charles "Chuckie" Nicoletti was in the book depository". This isn't likely as the policeman who saw Oswald in the break room would have seen Nicoletti going down the stairs to escape and he claimed he saw no one. Additionally, if he was the "grassy knoll shooter", then why is he only admitting to it decades later? In the interview (linked to the right) with Files, he gives a very detailed account of what he claimed happened, making his story quite convincing and believable however seems to lack enough motive to kill Kennedy. Files wanted the troops to remain in South-East Asia and disagreed with Kennedy's decision to pull them out. Lyndon B. Johnson This conspiracy theory revolves around the idea that Lyndon B. Johnson (Kennedy's vice president who then became president after the assassination) was behind the death of Kennedy. This is a possibility because Johnson didn't particularly like Kennedy and had little respect for him. According to a book written by Doris Goodman on Lyndon Johnson, he said Kennedy was "a weak and indecisive politician" and he was "not a man's man". As a Southerner, Johnson disagreed with Kennedy supporting civil rights for African-Americans. Additionally, Jack Ruby claimed Johnson was involved in the assassination. According to www.mcadams.posc.mu.edu, Ruby said "They alone had planned the killing, by they I mean Johnson and others..." Did Johnson work together with the C.I.A or Mafia to kill Kennedy? There is also a picture (to the right) showing the Texas Congressman winking at Johnson during the ceremony where he becomes president, as if they got what they wanted. |
